ABOUT PRINCE FREDERICK SOLMS BARUTH V

Prince Frederick V has highlighted the role of his grandfather, Prince Frederick III, in the July 20th plot as part of an inter-generational land restitution case against the German government. His grandfather conspired with the resistance, providing a physical base for its HQ, which prepared the coup in his castle.  He also advised on the installation of a constitutional monarchy according to the British model to be put in place in the event of a successful coup. When the plot failed, he was immediately incarcerated by the Gestapo and tortured for 9 months before being forced to sign over his entire property - including the castle at the centre of the plot - to Gestapo Chief Heinrich Himmler.  He fled Germany with only his life.

Prince Frederick V, grandson of Prince Frederick III, took over the legal case for restitution from his late father.  It commenced in 1989 and is now in its 33rd year. The case is due to reach a ruling in court on December 9th.
